The Mummers Parade



Held each New Year's Day in Philadelphia. Local clubs compete in one of four categories (Comics, Fancies, String Bands and Fancy Brigades). They prepare elaborate costumes and moveable scenery, which take months to complete.

The Greek Picnic Originally designed as a reunion celebrating African-American college fraternities and sororities, it later gained popularity among a large population that do not attend college due to its various popular social activities.

The Wing Bowl An annual event founded by Philadelphia talk-radio hosts Al Morganti and Angelo Cataldi as a celebration of gluttony in 1993.The event pits competitive eaters in a buffalo-style chicken wing eating contest. The Wing Bowl is traditionally held on the Friday preceding the Super Bowl.

Philadelphia Flower Show The premier horticultural show in the U.S., held in February.It is the largest indoor flower show in the world. The main attraction at the show is the exhibits, which range in size from garden displays with elaborate landscaping to individual and club entries of a prize horticultural specimen.

Philadelphia Film Festival Held annually, generally during the first weeks of April in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Over 200 films from around the world are exhibited in multiple venues in and around center city Philadelphia.
